Happy New Year

I hope in 2026, we spend more time in silence.  That we grow tired of distracted living and the constant noise that serves as the backdrop of our lives.  That we welcome boredom and make space for the creativity, critical thinking and calm only stillness can offer.

I hope in 2026, we ease it with the going no contact and ghosting people like it’s normal.  It’s not normal.  I hope we remember that while relationships are challenging, it’s best to treat people like they’re people as opposed to products that can be disposed of.

I hope that in 2026, we be mindful of how we engage online.  The posts we like, the people we follow, the comments we leave.  Just because we’re behind a screen doesn't omit us from the fact that our online activity has very real world consequences.

I hope in 2026, we commit ourselves to treating others the way we would want to be treated.  That we steer clear of gossip, protect ourselves from unnecessary comparison and potential jealousy.  That we concern ourselves more with improving our lives, as opposed to judging the lives or others.

And finally - I hope that in 2026, we recognize that each of us have gifts and talents that the world really needs.  Maybe it’s speaking, maybe it’s listening.  Maybe it’s leading, maybe it’s supporting.  Maybe it’s creating, maybe it’s editing.  Either way - the only way to know & make the most of your gifts is to be sober minded and clear headed.  Stay away from distraction, spend quiet time with you.  Stay more focused on how you can contribute, as opposed to consumed with all that’s wrong.

Because I hope that in 2026, we stop taking life for granted, we stop taking people for granted, and we start acting like all of this really matters.  I hope that we recognize life is a gift and that every day, every month, every year matters - and with that in mind, I hope you make the absolute most of your 2026.  Happy New Year.
