The Enemy of Intention is Distraction

The enemy of intentional living is distracted living.  If you want to live a life that is rooted in purpose and meaning - you have to be intentional.

Intentional with your time and your energy. Intentional with your relationships and your career. Intentional with your family planning and life aspirations. And intentional with what you want to contribute to this world with your one and only life.

However, it’s important that we be honest.  The reality is that so many of us avoid living intentionally because living intentionally demands presence, clarity of vision and discipline. We must be present in our every day lives to understand what is good for us vs. what is harmful for us. To understand what we want more of and what we want less of. Intentional living demands clarity about the vision you have for your life. Clarity to discern what a meaningful and purposeful lives encapsulates. Moreover, it demands being responsible for pursuing that vision, as well as the discipline to stay focused on the vision, as well as the discipline to pick yourself back up when you fall.

And for many of us - these truths overwhelm us, so we pick up our devices, start scrolling and subconsciously abandon the power of intention as we slowly numb with distraction.

All to say, if you want to live a purposeful, meaningful life - make friends with intention - because what’s the alternative?  A life that drifts and scrolls and wakes up one day wondering, “how did I get here?”.
